Ida’s family lived on Wright Road. Arthur and Ida made their home in Winston Salem near their first jobs at R.J. Reynolds. They soon longed for life back on the farm and moved to land adjoining Thomas Wright. They had learned the ways of farming from early childhood experiences. To supplement income from the family farm, Arthur went to work as a section-hand on the new railroad and worked in the Emmons Mine. About 1920, he began growing tobacco as a money crop to bring in additional revenues for his family. By the late 1930's, Arthur abandoned the farming of tobacco and began a dairy farm. He kept his dairy farm until his death in 1966. Their children Margie and Luther remained on the homeplace after their parents’ passed away and kept up the family farm on Cid Road.

    • Obituary: Lexington - Bickett Wright, 83, of Cid Road, died July 16, 2000, at Community General Hospital in Thomasville. He was born in Davidson County on June 26, 1917, a son of Arthur Bickett and Ida Lee Lambeth Bickett, and was a lifelong resident of Davidson County. He was a former co-owner of Cid Hosiery and was a member of Cid United Methodist Church. On March 30, 1940, he was married to Miss Mae Herman who survives of the home. Also surviving is a daughter, Mrs. Brenda Cline of Thomasville; a son, Bicky W. Wright and wife, Lavonne, of Denton; two sisters, Mrs. Blanche Cook of Asheboro and Miss Margie Wright of Lexington; a brother, Bruce Wright of Lexington; three grandchildren, Mrs. Steve (Sherri) Sarkady, Mrs. Bo (Kristi) Chitwood and Miss Deborah Wright; one great-grandson, Hayden Morris; and one step-great-grandson, Elliott Chitwood. Funeral will be 4 p.m. Tuesday at Cid United Methodist Church by the Rev. Alvin Pope and the Rev. Roger Weisner. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will remain at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville until placed in the church at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday. Visitation will be 3-4 p.m. Tuesday prior to the service and other times at the residence. Memorials may be directed to Cid United Methodist Church, in care of Rondal Cross, 482 John Wright Road, Lexington, N.C. 27292.
