George’s tombstone lists him as a Captain, how or why the title we do not know.
Capt. George d. 13 Apr 1844, age 37y 2m 21d, when still a very young man and bur. next to his wife at Jersey Baptist Church Cem., near Linwood, Davidson Co., NC. His stone is located out of place, in the cemetery, leaning against another stone with no inscriptions. Jacob Long was appointed Administrator of George’s estate in Aug 1844.
In 1976, we obtained copies of material at the Lexington Library, Lexington, NC. We do not know who compiled this material. One item listed John Fritts and his family: when born, died, buried, and who they married. There also were two notes: first, was on the “marriage of George Fritts to Elizabeth Long as a guess-marriage and had not been checked out.” We know George Fritts was bur. next to Elizabeth Cornelison in Jersey Church Cem. and the Bible of Mary (Long) Billings shows that her sister Elizabeth Long married John Cornelison, Jr. Marriage Bond shows John Cornelison, Jr. and Elizabeth Fritts were married 25 Mar 1846. However, we feel that the marriage is no longer a guess.
Elizabeth Fritts applied for one year’s support as the widow of George Fritts on 17 Aug 1844. George md. Elizabeth Long sometime in the early 1830s. At the time of his death he had five daughters, who were all listed by name in their Grandmother, Rebecca Fritts’ will.

George died when still a very young man at the age of 37y-2m-21d on 13 April 1844. He was buried at the Jersey Baptist Church Cemetery near Linwood, Davidson County, North Carolina. Jacob Long was appointed Administrator of George's estate in August, 1844. Elizabeth Fritts applied for "one years support as the widow of George Fritts on 17 August 1844." George was married sometime in the early 1830's to (we believe) Elizabeth Long. At the time of his death he had five daughters, who were all listed by name in their Grandmother Rebecca Fritts's Will. George's wife, Elizabeth, was, we feel, the daughter of Jacob and Barbara (Lopp) Long. Elizabeth was born @12 December 1814 in North Carolina. She died 21 November 1890 at age 76y-11m-9d. She was buried next to her first husband Capt. George Fritts, at Jersey Baptist Church Cemetery, as are her parents and also one daughter, Susan (Fritts) Hix. Elizabeth then married John Cornelison, Jr. 25 March 1846 (date of bond), in David- son County, North Carolina. He was appointed guardian of George's five daughters in August 1846. John was born @1813 in North Carolina and died sometime after 1860. John and Elizabeth had five children and in the 1860 census he is listed as a farmer with his real estate value at $1200.00 and personal estate valued at $1400.00.
