Beck of Marion, Richard Beck of Mississippi, Billy Ray Beck of Thomasville; sisters, Mrs. Gertie Sechrist and Timey Beck of Thomasville; brothers, Will Beck and Lank Beck, both of Thomasville. The family will be at Siler Funeral 7–9 p.m. today.

College Drive, died Nov. 24, 2005, at the SunBridge of the Triad. A native of Davidson County, he was born on Oct. 6, 1916, a son of John F. and Zena Grubb Beck. He was a furniture manufactory consultant and was a member of the First Reformed Church of Christ. On Oct. 5, 1935, he married Treva Jones Beck, who preceded him in death on May 5, 1997. Surviving are a son, James “Larry” Lawrence Beck Jr. of Thomasville; a daughter, Toby Ann June of Ft. Smith, Ark.; a sister, Louise Scarlett of Thomasville; brothers, John Beck of Mebane, N.C., Richard Beck of Pascagoula, Miss., and Billy R. Beck of Thomasville; grandchildren, Charles June, Sherri Bateman, James L. Beck III, and Andrea “Andi” Beck; and three great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Don Stevenson officiating. Beck Clarence Weldon Beck, 75, of 321 Greer Ave., died Saturday, March 25, 1995, at 12:45 p.m. in Evangeline of Archdale after several months of declining health. Mr. Beck was born in Davidson County Feb. 16, 1920, to John and Zina Grubb Beck. He had been a resident of the High Point area most of his life and was a retired employee of Thomasville Furniture Industries. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was first married to Pauline Byerly, and then to Dorothy Weaver, who preceded him in death. Surviving are daughters, Mrs. Larry (Joyce) Floyd of St. Cloud, Fla., Mrs. Marvin (Charlotte) Edwards of Martinsville, Va., and Donna Norris of Archdale; son, Clarence L. Beck of Light Road in Thomasville; sister, Mrs. Walter (Louise) Scarlette of Thomasville; brothers, Johnny Beck of Marion, N.C., Lawrence Beck of High Point, Richard Beck of Passagula, Miss., and Bill Beck of Thomasville; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral will be today at 11 a.m. at Cumby Eastchester Drive Chapel with the Rev. Peter C. Hamilton officiating. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park.

• Obituary: 14 Oct 2011, The McDowell News, Marion, McDowell, North Carolina, USA; John Beck MARION — Mr. John Willard Beck, 89, of Marion, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2011, at his residence. Mr. Beck was born in Thomasville Nov. 30, 1921, and was a son of the late John Franklin Beck and Zena Grubb Beck. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in WWII. Mr. Beck was former Chief of Police for the City of Marion and he was a retired fireman, following 27 years of service. Saddened by the loss of Mr. Beck are his wife of 25 years, Doris Curry Beck, of the home; two children, Brenda Austin, of Marion, and Jim Beck and his wife, Patricia, of Nebo; six step-children, Eddie Lanning, Jackie Westmoreland, Terri McNeely, Lori Edwards, Lisa Lanning and Susan Mills; two brothers, Bill and Richard Beck; one sister, Louise Scarlett; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, 12 step-grandchildren and 12 step-great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Saturday, Oct. 15, at 2 p.m. in Westmoreland Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Edwards officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home. Interment will be held in Oak Grove Cemetery with military honors being provided by the U.S. Army.
