    • Obituary: 13 Jun 1973, The Tampa Tribune; GARRETT Mr. Herbert Garrett, 75, of 8217 Klondyke Street, Tampa, passed away Tuesday. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock from the Chapel of the F. T. Blount Company Funeral Home, 5101 Nebraska Avenue, with Rev. E. Earl Hartman, pastor of the Davis Island Community Church, officiating. Pallbearers will be Steve Dondero, Walter Heath, Hugh McCall, Lon Almond, Lee Roberts and Michael McClain. Honorary bearers will be Dr. Clyde Tyner, F. M. Joyner, Walker Brown, O. L. Roberts, Ronnie Smith and Lee DeBunk. Interment will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery where Masonic graveside services will be conducted by Memorial Lodge 20, F. & A. M. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that gifts be made to the American Cancer Society, 2708 West Kennedy Blvd., Tampa 33609, in his memory. The family will be at the funeral home Wednesday night from 7:30 to 8:30. A native of Morgan County, Tennessee, Mr. Garrett had lived in the Tampa Bay Area 47 years. He was a member of the Spencer Memorial Baptist Church; the Emerald Lodge 377 F. & A. M., Wartburg, Tenn.; the Knights Templar, York Rite Masons, Cookeville, Tenn.; the American Legion Post 98; the Disabled American Veterans Association and the Veterans of Foreign Wars; the National Letter Carriers Association and he was a retired Letter Carrier. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Frances O. Garrett, Tampa; one son, Howard L. Garrett, Tampa; one daughter, Mrs. Irene Duckworth, St. Petersburg, Fla.; three brothers, Lee Garrett, Vancouver, British Columbia, Elbert Garrett and Charles Garrett, both of Wartburg, Tenn.; three sisters, Mrs. Ida Moore, Johnson City, Tenn., Mrs. Dove Buxton, Wartburg, Tenn., and Mrs. Ada Bowers, Johnson City; four grandchildren, Mrs. Patricia Perrow, St. Petersburg, Fla., Mrs. Gloria McClain, Atlanta, Ga., Miss Howarden Garrett and Miss Leslie Garrett, both of Tampa; two great-grandchildren, Kelly Dondero and Charles Dondero, both of St. Petersburg, Florida.

    Herbert married Adams, Frances Olia on 18 Jan 1921 in Morgan County, Tennessee, USA. Frances was born on 10 Mar 1901 in Tennessee, USA; died on 28 Sep 1980 in Tampa, Hillsborough, Florida, USA; was buried in Garden of Memories Cemetery, Tampa, Hillsborough, Florida, USA.
